In the humid, high-salt-spray, and high-sulfide marine environment of the Middle East, the service life of piping systems directly determines the safety and profitability of the entire project. SCH 10S marine thin-wall seamless stainless steel pipes are highly favored in the Saudi market due to their lightweight structure, corrosion resistance, smooth inner wall, excellent weldability, and long service life. These products meet the strict requirements of local shipyards, EPC contractors, and offshore engineering projects.

At present, the main wall thickness schedules for stainless steel pipes include Sch 5S, Sch 10S, Sch 40S, and Sch 80S. These specifications are based on ASME B36.19M Stainless Steel Pipe standard.
SCH 10S represents a specific wall thickness series for stainless steel pipes—thin-wall, lightweight, and high-flow-efficiency.
Compared with traditional SCH 40 or SCH 80 thick-wall pipes, SCH 10S significantly reduces the overall pipeline weight while maintaining sufficient pressure resistance. This is especially important for ship hulls and offshore platforms where lightweight design is strictly required.
Shipbuilding and marine engineering projects have extremely strict requirements for piping materials. In marine environments, high concentrations of chloride ions (Cl⁻) may cause pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and even stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in stainless steel. Therefore, corrosion resistance is the most important performance indicator.
SCH 10S thin-wall seamless stainless steel pipes are usually made of corrosion-resistant materials such as 316L stainless steel or duplex stainless steel, such as 2205.
316L stainless steel contains about 2%–3% molybdenum (Mo), providing excellent resistance to pitting corrosion in seawater environments.
2205 duplex stainless steel contains about 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 0.18% nitrogen. Its pitting resistance equivalent number, or PREN, is much higher than that of 316L, making it more suitable for severe seawater, high-temperature, and high-salinity environments.
In addition to corrosion resistance, marine seamless stainless steel pipes must also meet strict mechanical property requirements. For 316L stainless steel, the tensile strength should be ≥515MPa, and the yield strength should be ≥205MPa. Meanwhile, the steel pipes should pass hydrostatic testing, with the test pressure being 1.5 times the design pressure, and low-temperature impact testing, with impact energy ≥27J at -40°C.
In terms of manufacturing process, seamless pipes are the preferred choice for high-pressure systems, such as fuel pipes and hydraulic pipes. They are manufactured through a hot extrusion + cold drawing process to ensure uniform wall thickness, with tolerance ≤±10%, and no internal defects. SCH 10S thin-wall seamless pipes are produced through this precision manufacturing process.
Marine seamless stainless steel pipes produced by HAOMEI can obtain classification society certifications such as CCS (China), DNV (Norway), ABS (USA), LR (Lloyd's Register, UK), BV (France), and NK (Japan).

1. Lightweight design for optimized vessel performance
Thinner walls and reduced weight effectively lower the additional load on the hull and the burden on piping supports. This improves installation efficiency, cuts costs associated with lifting, transport, and shipping, and facilitates optimized spatial layout within the vessel. For non-high-pressure systems, it is an ideal choice for achieving both lightweighting and cost-effectiveness while meeting safety standards.
2. Superior corrosion resistance, engineered for marine environments
Designed to withstand long-term exposure to humidity, salt spray, and seawater, the stainless steel’s passive surface layer provides reliable protection. Grades 304/304L are suitable for general freshwater and mildly corrosive environments; meanwhile, grades 316/316L—containing molybdenum—offer enhanced resistance to pitting and chloride ions, making them the preferred choice for coastal projects (such as those in Saudi Arabia), marine piping, and high-salinity media applications.
3. Seamless structure for safe, reliable pressure handling
With no longitudinal welds and a uniform, dense microstructure, the pipe offers excellent resistance to vibration, impact, and fatigue. It maintains structural stability under complex operating conditions and eliminates risks associated with weld defects. The thin-wall design does not compromise its ability to ensure stable operation in marine medium- and low-pressure systems.
4. Smooth inner surface for efficient, energy-saving fluid transport
The smooth interior minimizes flow resistance and inhibits scale formation, significantly boosting transport efficiency for systems handling cooling water, freshwater, and ballast water. This reduces pumping energy consumption, minimizes sediment-related blockages, facilitates easier cleaning and maintenance, and ensures long-term system stability.
5. Easy installation and superior total lifecycle cost-efficiency
Lightweight and easy to cut, the material enables high construction efficiency, while the thin-wall design reduces shipping costs. Although the initial purchase price is higher than that of carbon steel, the material offers clear economic advantages over the long term thanks to its exceptional corrosion resistance, low maintenance requirements, and extended service life.
